Veer Kunwar Singh University derived its name from the legendary national hero Babu Veer Kunwar Singh, who had led the Sepoy Mutiny (1857) rebellion against the British in Bihar. It was founded in 1994 under the Bihar University Act of 1976. This institute is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).Veer Kunwar Singh University comprises 20 postgraduate divisions, 17 constituent degree colleges, three law colleges. 37 colleges are affiliated to this university. The institute educates approximately one crore population of the districts of Bihar. The University also promotes quality research works.
