Barkatullah University
Barkatullah University is located at Bhopal. It was set up in the year 1970. It is one of the leading universities of Madhya Pradesh. It conducts undergraduate courses, postgraduate certificate courses, diploma courses and research programmes through 23 departments.

Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University
Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University is located at Bhopal. It was set up in the year 1991 for providing higher education through open and distance learning. Its name has been derived from the name of the maharaja of India, Raja Bhoj.

Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication
Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication is situated in Bhopal. It was set up in the year 1992. It is the first university of journalism and communication not only in India, but also in Asia. It is named after Makhanlal Chaturvedi, who is identified as a freedom fighter, journalist and poet.

Dr. Hari Singh Gour University

R Rani Durgavati University, located at Jabalpur plays a pivotal role in spreading quality higher education in Madhya Pradesh. It was set up in the year 1956. The university has 118 affiliated colleges across the state. It is known to receive B++ status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Vikram University
Vikram University is located at Ujjain. It is considered to be one of the famous Universities in Madhya Pradesh. It was set up in the year 1957. The university has 23 departments which conduct various courses in the fields of arts, social sciences, education, commerce, physical sciences, life sciences, information technology and management.

Other Universities of Madhya Pradesh
National Law Institute University was set up in the year 1998 to provide skilled law professionals. The university has been ranked 3rd among law colleges of India. Rajiv Gandhi Technical University is considered to be one of the famous technical universities of India. There are 55 degree colleges and 58 polytechnic colleges affiliated to the university. Devi Ahilya University, located at Indore is a reputed university of Madhya Pradesh. The university conducts undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programmes in various disciplines. Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University is one of the reputed agricultural universities of India. It offers courses in agriculture, forestry, horticulture, animal husbandry and biotechnology. Jiwaji University, located at Gwalior is one of the prestigious universities of Madhya Pradesh. The educational jurisdiction of the university extends over the districts of Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Guna, Shivpuri and Datia. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic University is located at Katni in Madhya Pradesh. It is an accredited public university and a part of the Maharishi Educational System. Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday University is located at Chitrakoot. It imparts higher education in the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh.
