Universities of Chhattisgarh have contributed towards the state’s rapid progress in the academic sphere. These universities impart higher education in diverse fields of study. Some of the universities of Chhattisgarh are Sarguja University, Bastar University and Guru Ghasidas University.

The hub of higher education in Chhattisgarh is its capital city namely, Raipur. Several courses are offered by the universities of Chhattisgarh, to cater to the educational requirements of different students. Chhattisgarh has four leading premiere institutes namely, Indian Institute of Management, National Institute of Technology, All India Institute of Medical Science and Hidayatullah National Law University. These and others universities of Chhattisgarh are described below.

Indian Institute of Management
Indian Institute of Management, Raipur is the tenth Indian Institute of Management. It was set up in 2010. The institute provides diplomas in management and full-time and part-time academic programmes. Lectures, field visits, role plays, case studies, business games, group discussions, etc are the techniques used to teach students in the institute.

National Institute of Technology
National Institute of Technology, Raipur is an important technical university in India. It was founded in 1956 as the Govt. College of Mining and Metallurgy. The university is one of the oldest of its type in the country. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs to students.

All India Institute of Medical Science
Universities of Chhattisgarh, Indian UniversitiesAll India Institute of Medical Science, Raipur was set up in the year 2012. This medical college and medical research public university is autonomous and functions under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Hidayatullah National Law University
Hidayatullah National Law University is situated in New Raipur. It is one of the esteemed national law schools in India. It was established as a center for legal excellence, by the Government of Chhattisgarh. It is a residential university. The university conducts Integrated Undergraduate Law Degree Program, Master of Laws - Postgraduate Program and Ph. D Program.

Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University
Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University is situated in Raipur. It was founded in 1964 and is named after the first chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla. The university is Chhattisgarh`s largest and oldest institution of higher education. It has 29 University Teaching Departments (UTDs) and 129 affiliated colleges.

Guru Ghasidas University
Guru Ghasidas University is situated in Bilaspur. It was inaugurated on 16th of June, 1983. It has been set up following the Central Universities Act, 2009. It has been named after Guru Ghasidas, the founder of Satnami movement. The university has been accredited with a B+ status by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU) is located in Bhilai. This public university was established on 21st of January, 2005. The university conducts courses in fields namely, engineering and technology, applied science, management and entrepreneurship, pharmacy, architecture, humanities and ecology and environment.

Indira Gandhi Agricultural University
Indira Gandhi Agricultural University is situated in Raipur. This agricultural university was established on 20th of January, 1987. Post the announcement of results of the pre-admission test (CG-PAT) conducted by Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CGVYAPAM), students are admitted to undergraduate programs of the university.

Other Universities of Chhattisgarh
Kushabhau Thakre Patrakarita Avam Jansanchar University is situated in Raipur. This public university was established in December, 2004. The university is named after Late Sri Kushabhau Thakre, who was one of the great political leaders of India. Indira Kala Sangeet University is situated in Khairagarh. It was established in 1956, by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University is situated in Bilaspur. It is an open university, offering distance education. Other universities of Chhattisgarh are Sarguja University, Bastar University, Dr. C. V. Raman University, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and Ayush University of Chhattisgarh and Kamdhenu University.
