Universities of Assam
Universities of Assam have given eminent personalities to the nation in various fields of study. Some of these universities are Assam University, Gauhati University, Dibrugarh University and Tezpur University.

Assam University
Assam University is situated at Silchar. It is a teaching-cum-affiliating university. It has 9 schools, which offer courses in the fields of social sciences, humanities, languages, life sciences, physical sciences, environmental sciences, information sciences, technology and management studies. There are 29 departments under these 9 schools.

Gauhati University
Gauhati University is located in Jalukbari, Guwahati. This teaching-cum-affiliating university is the first university in north-east India. It was established on 26th of January, 1948, by an act of state legislature, the Gauhati University Act, 1947 of the Government of Assam. Dibrugarh University
Dibrugarh University is situated in Dibrugarh. This university was set up in 1965, under the provisions of the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965, enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly. It is a teaching-cum-affiliating university. The university has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an `A Grade" in 2017.

Tezpur University
Tezpur University is a central university located in Tezpur. It was established by an Act of Parliament in 1994, with the aim to make higher education accessible to large segments of population. The university campus is situated at Napaam. The university has four schools of studies, which are classified into 21 departments and 3 special academic centers.

Assam Agricultural University
Assam Agricultural University is situated in Jorhat. It was established in 1969, under the Assam Agricultural University Act. The jurisdiction of the university extends to the entire state of Assam. With it"s headquarter at Borbheta, the university has a number of campuses.

Assam Don Bosco University
Assam Don Bosco University is situated in Azara, Guwahati. It is a project of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), which has been executed by Don Bosco Society, Guwahati. The university conducts a graduate programme in engineering and technology, leading to B. Tech. degree. Postgraduate programmes in engineering and technology, social sciences, management, computer applications and business administration are also conducted in the university.

Other Universities of Assam
Some of the other universities of Assam are Kaziranga University, Cotton College State University, Bodoland University and Assam Down Town University.
