Kannu Gill aka Mohini Basu, Indian TV ActressKannu Gill is no more an unknown name on the small screen. She essays the character of the quintessential Bengali mother, Mohini Basu in the popular Balaji show `Kasauti Zindagi Kay`. Despite being a true-blue Punjabi she has achieved immense recognition for the portrayal of this character with such dexterity. Her acting prowess with a fluent Bengali accent has made her at par with the other contemporary actresses. This brilliant actress is born in Amritsar, which forms a part of the Indian state of Punjab. She hails from the academically inclined family of Squadron Leader (retd.) Jarnail Singh and Satwant Kaur Randhwa. She changed her name from Kulwinder Radhwa to Kannu Gill and this change also modified her whole identity from a schoolteacher to that of an actress.

Kannu Gill appears in the world of televisions as a graceful and strong woman. The way she sports her fashionable blunt-cut and her big `bindi` as well as the rope of pearls around her neck and the drapes of her sari in the typical Bengali style all speak of her intense understanding of her trade. Another feather of success in her cap was the forceful role as the wife of an AOC and the mother of the flight Lieutenant Monica Singh, Leila Singh in the very popular weekly `Saara Akaash`. As a teacher she also directed and participated in plays, dramas, dances for various schools, fashion shows and annual Army functions. When she was doing her schooling in Agra, Jamnagar and Kanpur she grasped languages with typical nuances pronunciation and accents. This really helped her a lot in her career in the later stage.

After Kannu Gill landed in the tinsel town with the job of a teacher in a reputed school a providential meeting with the parents of a child suffering from severe eczema, the father who was also a fashion photographer and a model changed her entire life. The father not only found her face extremely photogenic but also offered to get a free portfolio done. The she went ahead and met with the soap queen Ekta Kapoor that completely changed her life. Ekta offered her a meaty role in the hit show `Kasauti`, that of the mother of the male protagonist who was also very sensitive on every issues about her son Anurag (played by Cezzane Khan). She does not want her son to marry the daughter of Rajesh Sharma and he forced her son to marry a rich girl called Komolika (played by Urvashi Dholakia) who made the life of his son a complete hell. Kannu Gill has already made a mark in the Bollywood Film Industry in the Bollywood chartbuster `Pyar Tune Kya Kiya` starring the glam doll Urmila Matondakar. This veteran actress is sure to go a long way before she quits the profession of acting. For her future endeavors her fans wish her all the best.
